Ricky Randolph Carr, known professionally as Ricky Randolph, is a Sacramento-based licensed life insurance professional, co-founder and leader of Team Abnormal, and co-founder of ABNORMAL RESERVE. Together with his wife and co-founder Caitlin Roque, he is building organizations centered on leadership, development, and protecting what matters most.

The man who taught me to build

My father, Russell Randolph, taught me how to build.

My father, Russell Randolph, was the first African American fire chief in my hometown. I am proud of that distinction, but what shaped me most was watching how he carried responsibility and lived his life.

He taught me to enjoy the life I was given, to chase what I wanted rather than wait for permission, to build something that could outlast me, and to treat people as the point rather than the backdrop.

Most days after school, he asked me the same question:

“What is something new I learned today?”

That question became a foundation for how I live and lead. It taught me that growth is a discipline, that you never arrive, and that what you learn should eventually be passed forward.

Built different

Team Abnormal is a leadership organization built through the business of protecting people.

Team Abnormal is the leadership, recruiting, training, and development organization Ricky co-founded and leads. The name represents people willing to think differently, reject the default, and take responsibility for becoming more than they were when they started.

The organization is built on a set of principles that are not slogans. They are the operating rules.

Elevated

Aim higher than the room expects. Treat small work and big work with the same standard.

Disruptive

Do things differently when the conventional way is not good enough. Different with purpose, not for its own sake.

Think Different

Question assumptions. Look for better ways to solve problems, communicate, lead, and serve.

Discipline Over Comfort

Do the difficult thing when nobody is watching. Standards matter most when motivation disappears.

Be willing to move when the opportunity requires courage, while understanding the consequences of the decision.
