Who we are

ABNORMAL RESERVE was founded by Ricky Randolph Carr and Caitlin Roque, who serve as co-founders and licensed life insurance professionals. The practice is based in Sacramento, California.

Licensing

ABNORMAL RESERVE operates as a life insurance practice and works with licensed insurance carriers. Insurance licensing is issued by state insurance departments and is state-specific. Products may only be offered in states where the applicable licenses are held and the product is approved for sale.

Availability of any product, rider, or benefit described on this site is subject to state approval and to the terms of the issuing carrier. Not all products are available in all states. If you would like to confirm licensing or product availability for your state, please ask us directly, we are happy to confirm it before you rely on anything here.

Not tax, legal, or investment advice

Nothing on this website constitutes tax, legal, or investment advice, and nothing here creates an advisory relationship. ABNORMAL RESERVE and its founders are licensed life insurance professionals. We are not tax advisors, investment advisors, or fiduciaries, and we do not describe ourselves as such.

Decisions involving insurance, taxes, and estate or business planning frequently involve more than one discipline. Where a question falls outside life insurance, we will say so and refer you to a qualified professional rather than answer beyond our remit.

About illustrations and examples

Any figures, comparisons, or examples shown on this site are illustrative only. They are not quotes, offers, or guarantees, and they do not reflect the terms of any specific policy. Actual premiums, cash values, and benefits depend on the carrier, the product, the insured’s age and health, the coverage amount, and underwriting.

Policy illustrations are projections based on stated assumptions, not predictions. Results will differ. Where a policy’s values depend on future crediting rates or index performance, those rates are not guaranteed, and a policy that underperforms relative to its assumptions may require additional premium to remain in force.

Important product disclosures

  • Living benefits. “Living benefits” refers to riders and policy features that may provide access to a portion of the death benefit during the insured’s lifetime under qualifying conditions, as defined by the policy. These benefits generally accelerate the death benefit rather than add to it, and may reduce the amount paid to beneficiaries. Availability, definitions, and conditions vary by carrier and by state.
  • Indexed strategies. Indexed products do not invest directly in any index, and do not receive the dividends paid by the securities in an index. Index-based crediting is subject to caps, participation rates, spreads, floors, policy charges, and other terms set by the contract, all of which may be adjusted by the insurer within contractual limits. A floor that prevents negative index credit does not prevent policy charges from reducing cash value.
  • Cash value. Cash value accumulates over time and is generally tax-deferred under current federal rules. Policy loans and withdrawals can reduce the death benefit and cash value, accrue interest, and may have tax consequences if the policy lapses or is surrendered. Early policy years are typically weighted toward the cost of insurance and expenses, and surrender charges may apply.
  • Guarantees. Any guarantee described on this site is limited to the specific guarantee provided in the policy contract, and is subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance carrier. Guarantees do not apply beyond what the contract states.
  • Death benefit and taxes. Death benefits are generally received income-tax-free by beneficiaries under current federal rules. This is not a blanket statement about every situation: estate taxes, state rules, and how a policy is owned can all affect the outcome. Questions about your specific tax situation belong with a qualified tax professional.

No coverage until a policy is issued

Submitting an inquiry through this website does not create coverage or an application. Applications are subject to carrier review and underwriting. Coverage does not take effect until a policy is issued and any required premium is paid, in accordance with the carrier’s requirements.

About testimonials

We do not publish customer testimonials on this site yet. This page and others include no client names, quotations, star ratings, or reviews, because none have been collected and verified. When authentic feedback from clients is available, it will be published only with that client’s approval and accurate attribution.
